Everton have been put on red alert after reports emerged that Paris Saint-Germain will not be offering captain Thiago Silva a new contract this summer.

Carlo Ancelotti is said to be a huge admirer of the 35-year-old Brazilian, who will end his stay in the French capital after eight years there it seems.

According to French newspaper L'Equipe, the PSG hierarchy informed Silva that they will not be extending his deal beyond June 30. It is claimed Silva rejected a pay cut, which would have allowed him to stay at Parc des Princes.

But he will not find himself short of admirers it seems with both Everton and AC Milan keen on securing his signature.

Silva played for the Italian giants for three years between 2009 and 2012, helping them win the Serie A title in 2011.

But it is claimed Ancelotti and Everton are also interested in making a move for him in what would be a bargain free transfer. The duo worked together when Ancelotti was PSG manager between 2011 and 2013.

The Toffees are keen to strengthen their options in the heart of defence with Michael Keane and Yerry Mina failing to convince Ancelotti they are the men to lead them back to the top four.

Mason Holgate impressed during his run in the side before the season was halted by the coronavirus pandemic but he will need an experienced defender alongside him.

Silva made 30 appearances across all competitions for Thomas Tuchel's side before the season was halted. It is thought he will stay on and try and help the club win the Champions League when UEFA's flagship competition is eventually concluded.

Everton are also among a host of European clubs chasing both Torino striker Andrea Belotti and Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot, according to reports.

Belotti, 26, is highly coveted after netting 15 goals in 31 appearances this season and he appears unwilling to sign a new contract - which is set to expire in June 2022.

And La Repubblica believe that Everton are vying for his signature with a view to making a summer swoop.

Meanwhile, Rabiot has endured an underwhelming first campaign in Turin, having joined the club from PSG last summer.

Tuttosport believe it may be in the best interests of both Juventus and Rabiot to part ways and Everton are said to hold the advantage.
